I am sure that by this time we all have started enjoying ATM service in a better way.. Thanks to the Reserve Bank of India, which has given this gift to public on April 1st, 2009.. No more big queues in front of SBI atms.. You can now use any ATM Card in any ATM machine irrespective of what bank it is, and you don't have to pay anything extra also .. :)
Also, there is a wonderful example which i witnessed myself some days back.. It tells us how the information can be changed to money ("and how quickly").. Union Bank of India, as we all would have observed, doesn't perform very great.. they have a small customer base also.. they had the idea or the information that RBI is gonna do this thing from april 1st... they took a wise step, they did a campaign saying that "if you open savings account in Union Bank, you get an ATM card with the facility to use any ATM all over India, without any extra fee".. Trust me friends, i have seen that how many accounts they opened just in a week.. A person who would have never considered UBI, also went there and got an account opened.. And just after 15 days, this facility became a norm for the banks.. I am not saying they cheated in any way.. just trying to sketch out how information turns to money.. Earlier this used to be a facility of Privilege Accounts, for which these banks used to charge a lot.. I suppose now they have to give some extra facility to grab bigger & corporate customers ..
