Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is one of the biggest companies in India, when it comes to IT industry... Apart from this, there is one more fact about tcs, it tries to be the first company in any college for the recruitment...
Here are a few tips for the guys who are going to appear for TCS interview for recruitment process..
* Tcs normally conducts an online test.. This test mainly checks ur aptitude, and a bit of english knowledge. Good part is "no negative marking". So attempt all .. English is generally considered tough, but fluke works great.. For students, who are from non-IT background, good news is that there are no Technical Questions, so be happy and do well ..
* Next 2 stages are Technical & HR Interview...
* In technical interview, u need to be conscious.. they expect more from the ppl coming from IT and CS branches.. Those who r from non-IT generally get an excuse by saying that they haven't read lot of programming.. But, it also depends on the panel u get.. (There was a panel once who screwed a candidate on Mechanical Questions)... If the panel is in screwing mood, it can screw u anyway .. So don take it ur heart.. It might be just because of Interviewer's bad night or bad morning at his/her home.. :)
* For IT/CS ppl, work well on OS, DB, C/C++, Java, Networks, DataStructures.. Don't look stressed infront of them.. Don't pose an image that you can die for a job.. The image should be there of an eligible person, who should be given a job.. Be confident when u r telling "ABOUT Yourself".. Try to give ur strong points, and show them that u r in a good position currently.. Work on ur Grammar and Verbs mainly..
* There are misconceptions like being over-qualified etc. etc.. There is nothing like that, those who feel that they have done many things apart from academics, focus it to them as ur achievements and say that u are an active person..
* Interview is nothing more than pleasing the person in front of you. So please them by saying what they wanna listen .. Dont bluff please.. Its perfectly fine even if u dont know the answers of more than 30% questions.. The only thing needed is whether u really know -- "how much do u know?". Admit politely that u don't know or don't remember (whatever suits more to the situation)..
* HR round is generally cakewalk .. u just need to know bit of history about tcs.. When was it made ? who r current post-holders// Remember the name correctly.. don say wrong intials there .. Read a bit of Software Engineering for this round..
* Technical round may take 5 - 45 minutes based on ur luck .. For me it was the upper limit.. Though i spent 5 mins in between for taking tea and biscuits with them .. ;) there is nothing wrong in taking tea if they insist.. Don worry, they don offer generally .. We need to starve only that day .. ;)
* Few imp points -- Carry ur pen (working one).. Have some plain white sheets with you.. Try not to take pen from them .. Dress up neatly.. Need not wear new dress only.. Don wear shining dresses.. Avoid jewels, flowers etc..
ALL THE BEST friends.. Trust me, getting into TCS is damn easy .. Just be disciplined and work on ur basics.. Learn to talk well, even if u r not very good at Technicals..
DON'T STAMMER in front of them ..
Post ur doubts, if any, will try to clarify it asap ..
