This post was pending for a long time. It got late as I was busy in shifting from Bangalore and settling myself at Chennai.
Seriously speaking it's just not that easy to shift from a place to other (it becomes even more difficult if you have luggage as i do). There are a lot of things to be taken care-of while this shifting process. I really faced a lot of hell during these days. Let me discuss some of the typical things about these cities, it might be helpful for the people who are going to be new in these cities.

Being the most preferred IT destinations in India, Bangalore and Chennai have observed a lot of changes in the previous years. The scenario in these cities are no more simple as it used to be sometime back. IT has really affected it deeply.

When i left Bangalore, i was kind of fed-up with the city. I used to think its costly (most of the people think Bangalore is too costly), congested etc. etc.. Those were my opinions also till I faced the real Chennai. Migration from Bangalore to Chennai was like coming to a totally different place (totally strange man !!).

Bangalore was the first place I went after my college.
1. The climate there is superb. You don't need an AC at home, at the same time you don't have to buy a room heater. Mornings are superb with little fog/mist even in month of July, which really stimulates a lot of senses in you. At Chennai, the weather is hot, hotter and hottest. It sweats most of the time. The good part is the beach, which is really a nice place to be. Sanitation and water logging is really bad here.

2. Traveling is a bit tough in Bangalore, even when the buses are good. Come on, they need roads to run, and there is no free place on Bangalore roads. Also, there is no place to broaden the existing roads. Well, I used to have office bus, so i never faced that trouble of BMTC buses in timings of rush. But even then, Local train service is a must in Bangalore. In peak hours, if you get into traffic, that's all, you are done for that day.. (at those times you will see funny posters of Bangalore DNA saying - "Even New York gets traffic jams"). At Chennai, the local trains take care of a lot of people everyday.. But truly speaking, if u travel during rush hours, you need to change your clothes after getting down. Bus service is also good and cheap at the same time. Roads are wide at most of the places, and lots of garbage can be seen on road-sides easily.

3. Food, that's good man!! You have got many spots catering to the needs of all types of people. Needless to say about the branded chain restaurants, they are everywhere. There are other places which cater to the needs of people specific to their needs, some of them I know are - TAWA & GHAR KA KHANA, near Wipro Park Koramangala. If you are a person who likes to eat real north-indian homely food, then TAWA is the ultimate spot. Coconut water is damn cheap here, they allow you to choose from their collection just for 10 rupees each. You can seriously take one daily, or may be you can hang around the Pani-puri stalls spread along entire Koramangala, HSR & BTM Layout. These people just specialise in Pani-puri and not in all the CHAT items. Most of these are from North (UP, Orissa, Bihar etc.). All types of tags, be it SAP, Microsoft, Intel or Sun Microsystems can be seen around these stalls. In terms of food, Chennai really troubles those who are north indians.. Chances of getting chat or pani-puri (good one i meant) is really very small.. If you are ok with south-indian food, then good; else, you will be made ok to it.

4. Auto drivers give a terror scene there. They can fight with you very soon. You really need to know and learn how to deal with auto people properly. But good part is - They charge according to meter even today. After dealing with auto drivers at Chennai, i felt that Bangalore drivers were far better. Atleast, they used to know the word meter; Chennai drivers will charge double, never go with meter and they will fight with you very easily.

5. House is a big issue at any place. I had a tough time to find a house in Koramangala. I din know a lot about the house searching stuff when i landed there, and hence fell into the hands of a broker (Rajesh, a big useless waste fellow, "he drives an Enticer",). On the first day itself I paid him the good amount of one month rent around Rs.4000/- As the time passed, i learned things and then i understood that internet helps a lot in house search .. My recommendations - sulekha.com & Yahoo Property are great sites to find homes without paying anything as broker charge.. At chennai, after searching for one month, I finally got the home through sulekha only... I am happy that i surpassed the brokers, because they never care for you after getting the money once .. At Chennai, houses are actually costlier than Bangalore, though most of the people don't know this. Also, the type of houses built here are not that cool as it was in Bangalore. But, one thing which i found better here is the house-owners. They are far better than that of Bangalore's.

All those who are gonna move to these cities --- "ALL THE BEST".
